What Potential Securities Violations Is BG&G Investigating?
Altria Group, Inc. reported second quarter 2026 financial results that missed Wall Street expectations on both earnings and revenue and lowered its full-year 2026 adjusted diluted earnings per share guidance after previously reaffirming its outlook. On the Company’s April 30, 2026 first quarter earnings call, Chief Financial Officer Sal Mancuso stated, “We reaffirm our expectation to deliver 2026 full-year adjusted diluted EPS in a range of $5.56 to $5.72.” During that same call, Chief Executive Officer Billy Gifford highlighted the Company’s oral nicotine pouch business, describing on! PLUS as “the first and only product authorized under the FDA’s pilot program” and stating that the science supporting the Company’s pending applications “provides a basis for FDA authorization within the 180-day statutory time line.” Following the second quarter results, Altria lowered its full-year earnings outlook. The investigation concerns whether the Company adequately disclosed the regulatory and financial risks associated with its smoke-free product strategy and related FDA authorization expectations. Following this news, Altria Group’s stock price dropped on July 30, 2026.
